So, I’ve been seeing this rumor floating around that there was a song intended for Shadow the Hedgehog that was later replaced by “Chosen One” due to the fact that Jun Senoue couldn’t get a hold of the band. It was called “Broken” by Sins of a Divine Mother. I don’t know if the rumor is true, but everywhere I look, there’s been no claims that it’s false. Regardless, I really love the song and it fits Shadow very well. I suggest you check it out. :)

Hey there, cats!

That rumor is indeed true! It was brought up to me at a stream a few weeks ago and requested to be played, so I happen to have it. Wouldn’t hurt to throw it up, right? In case anyone’s foggy, “The Chosen One” goes with the Slightly Hero-Hero and Slightly Hero-Dark endings, where either Shadow believes he’s an experiment gone horribly wrong, or that he’s going to stay and protect the crumbling ARK. Both are pretty dark! I love the guitar lick at the beginning, from the actual lick to the effect that’s used on it. The thing that really draws me in is the chord progression, in both the chorus and the verse. The chorus has a nice flat-III I believe at the end of it, which adds nice color. The bridge section has its own unique chord progression, almost with a major feel to it, which is a nice contrast after all the verse-chorus-verse-chorus action going on. The bass is pretty basic (no pun intended), but the drum work is very cool! There are some little synth things here and there, especially at the very beginning, just for some other colors as well. I like how it ends the same way it begins—bookends can be quite satisfying! I’m quite fond of this track myself!
